Koshi Province, also known as Province No. 1 of Nepal, is a land of breathtaking contrasts. From the towering Himalayan peaks like Mount Everest to the lush tea gardens of Ilam and the rich wetlands of Koshi Tappu, this province is a complete travel package for nature lovers, adventure seekers, and cultural explorers.
Located in the eastern part of Nepal, Koshi Province covers 12 diverse districts that blend high mountains, scenic hills, and fertile plains. Along with natural wonders, the province is home to people of many ethnic groups, making it a melting pot of languages, traditions, and festivals.
By Air: The fastest way is to fly from Kathmandu to Biratnagar (40 minutes) or Bhadrapur (55 minutes). From there, you can travel onward to different attractions.
By Road: Public buses take around 14–15 hours from Kathmandu to Biratnagar. Private vehicles are also available for a more comfortable journey.
Spring (Mar–May): Blossoms, clear skies, and trekking season.
Autumn (Sept–Nov): Pleasant weather, major festivals, and crystal-clear mountain views.
Summer (June–Aug): Best for hill escapes like Bhedetar but expect monsoon rains.
Winter (Dec–Feb): Cold in high-altitude regions, but ideal for Ilam and Koshi Tappu.
