Kabita Nepali, a celebrated dancer, model, and actress, has etched her name into history by becoming the first Nepali celebrity to summit both Mount Everest and Mount Lhotse in a back-to-back feat. Her expedition organizer, Elite Exped, confirmed the news via social media.
The multi-talented artist reached the summit of Everest on May 18, followed by Mount Lhotse, the world’s fourth-highest peak, on May 19. Her accomplishment sets a new milestone in Nepali mountaineering, particularly in the entertainment industry, where few have ventured into such extreme challenges.
Kabita’s dual ascent was part of an expedition led by renowned mountaineer Mingma David Sherpa under the banner of Elite Exped, a company founded by iconic climber Nirmal “Nimsdai” Purja. Among the 39 climbers who summited Everest with her, Kabita was the only one to go on to scale Lhotse, showcasing her unmatched determination and stamina.
“This achievement is not just about reaching two peaks, it’s a symbol of pushing limits, redefining boundaries, and showing the world that a Nepali woman from the world of glamour can also stand tall on the highest mountains,” said a spokesperson from Elite Expeditions.
Though not new to breaking barriers, Kabita’s mountaineering success adds a bold new chapter to her career. She gained national recognition after winning the 2018 season of Boogie Woogie, a global dance reality show. Since then, she has acted in the Nepali film Alone, appeared in over 50 music videos, and built a loyal fanbase as a fitness content creator with over 104,000 subscribers on YouTube.
Other Nepali actresses, including Nisha Adhikari and Diya Pun, have previously scaled Mount Everest, but Kabita’s Everest-Lhotse combination sets her apart. It is a rare feat even among seasoned climbers, let alone among artists.
As her story inspires many across Nepal and beyond, Kabita Nepali now stands not just as an icon of beauty and talent but also as a symbol of courage, endurance, and limitless ambition.
